TITLE:                                  Coordinator of Wellness Ministries

TYPE OF POSITION:      Professional/Exempt

CLASSIFICATION:          Part-time

 

 

PURPOSE

 

To facilitate wellness for  the community of Zion Lutheran Church by being passionate about the integration of faith and health and empowering members of Zion to share in this ministry.

 

 

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Understands the relationship between faith and health.

Coordinates wellness educational programs and events.

Recruits professional and lay volunteers to respond to the wellness needs of Zion members.

Models, teaches and promotes stewardship of the whole person.

 

Works with the Health and Caring Ministry Team to coordinate ministries for the sake of the wellness of Zion members, families and the congregation.  This coordination includes identifying, developing, supporting, facilitating and/or directing health and caring ministries.

 

Participates as an active staff member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Is present in congregational life to establish relationships and encourage communication. 

Maintains records of services and educational programs provided including objectives, content, evaluation, attendance and budget.  Makes this information available to the pastors and the Health and Caring Ministry Coordination Team as requested.

Participates in continuing education opportunities.

Other duties as assigned in the area of wellness ministry as defined by the Senior Pastor.
 

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

 

Administrative supervision is received from the Senior Pastor.  Functional supervision from the Associate Pastor.

 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Bachelor degree in Social Work, Psychology, health care services, or related degrees or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.

 

A caring Christian with the capacity to lead.

 

Understanding of a holistic health philosophy and knowledge of community health care resources.

 

Effective interpersonal and communication skills; individually and in group settings.

 

Ability to inspire others to minister to one another and share God’s love in a caring way.

 

Works well independently and welcomes working as member of a team.

 

Valid Iowa driver’s license.

 

 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

 

One to three years experience in related field.

 

Experience with the development and delivery of educational programs.

 

Knowledge of or training in the Stephen Ministry or similar program.

 

Experience in recruiting, training, and coordinating volunteers.
