Welcome to Zion Lutheran Church
Our congregation works to welcome all people into our community of faith. We hope that you find us friendly and helpful as you join us for worship on Sundays at 9:30 am, but don’t hesitate to ask questions if are not sure what to do. Going to a new worship service can be a bit overwhelming. Ushers and a worship coordinator are available every week to assist you in making your worship experience pleasant and stress-free.

If you are new and visiting for the first time be aware there is a parking lot to the northeast of the building, which you can access from the west on Johnson Street or from the east on Dodge Street. There is also parking on Sunday mornings in the Mercy Hospital parking lot across Bloomington St.

The most accessible entrances are on the west and east side of the building, both are handicap accessible. There is an elevator to all floors in the east side entrance. Worship is on the 1st floor.

When you enter the building there is a main hall, that will take you to our worship sanctuary on the east side of the building.

If you are coming during the week, the office is just inside the west entrance of the building off of Johnson Street. Free 15-minute parking is available right in front of the west entrance any day of the week.

There are activity boxes for children in the hall next to the worship sanctuary. There is also a staffed nursery available from 9:15 a.m- 10:40 am in the lower level for children five years of age and younger.

All baptized Christians are welcome to participate in Holy Communion. Please let the server know if you prefer gluten-free wafers. Both wine and grape juice are available. The wine is red and the grape juice is white. Choose whichever you prefer from the serving tray.

Devices are available for all who would like one, please ask an usher to assist you in setting it up and using it.

Large-print bulletins are available for those who have difficulty reading the print in the regular bulletins or the music in the hymnals. If you are not familiar with the hymnal, these can also be helpful in that they include the hymns for the day, as well.

Worship at Zion is traditional Lutheran liturgical service with special music from the choir, flutes, bells, or brass ensemble. The scriptures for the day are taken from the Revised Common Lectionary, following the practice of many main-line denominations. There is weekly Holy Communion for any baptized individuals. Children are welcome and activity boxes are available for any age child to use. If you have any questions do not hesitate to talk to an usher or any member of the congregation.

The nursery is available during the worship service for children five years of age and younger.
We offer Sunday School classes for children from pre-K through sixth grade Sunday mornings at 8:30 a.m. September-May.
We offer Confirmation Class with Pastor Marsha on Thursday evenings at 6:45 for children in grades 6-8.

If you would like to plan a baptism for your child or as an adult please contact the office through phone or email. They will share your information with Pastor Marsha who will reach out to you to set up a date to meet and discuss your baptism, as well as work with you to select a date for the baptism. Any non-baptized person is welcome to be baptized at Zion, even if you attend a church someplace else.
