What’s Happening 6.13.24

I am back from a lovely “staycation” and well-rested after many hours of pulling weeds in my garden.   Thank you for that time away and the quiet email account.

As you probably know, when I did come back, we hosted a funeral for Kurt Nedoba.  As you also probably know, we have another one coming soon, no date set just yet.  But Bruce Friedrich passed a few weeks ago and the family has had several medical issues they have been dealing with.  I also recently did a funeral for Stan Smith. That is three spouses who have lost a loved one in just the last couple of months here at Zion. 

It was asked of me if we have a grief group. We do have one, but it is specifically for families who have lost children.

I am wondering if there is someone who might be interested in “hosting” a grief group for spouses who have lost loved ones. We would look for a resource or guidebook to assist in the leading of this group.  They could meet once a month or more often if that would be helpful. 

If you are someone who has lost a spouse, recently or even not so recently, and would be interested in being a part of such a group, please let us know.  If you would be interested in leading the discussion, that would be greatly appreciated. 

Let us keep these three spouses and others in our prayers, as they go through this tough time in their life.  Asking that God will be present with them, in all the ways that they would need.
